About Us
The FEAST Training kitchen for the County of Oxfordshire will be situated at Rosehill Primary School in Oxford. There are a total of 4 individual training stations for caterers and cooks within the kitchen and a lecture room for theory work. Initially the centre will be open to all caterers and cooks that are employed by the Council’s own service provider, ‘Food With Thought’. All caterers/cooks will eventually work towards obtaining their NVQ Qualifications in Professional Cookery through a mixture of attendance at the FEAST training kitchen and through assessment on the ground. The kitchen will be linked to Rosehill Primary School and therefore makes it ideal for the caterers and cooks to present the food that they have prepared to the pupils and staff. In conjunction with the Training Division of Oxfordshire County Council, staff will also be offered the Support Work in Schools qualification, levels 2 & 3. Initially caterers and Cooks will identify those areas of their own cooking skills that need improvement and will attend the appropriate module in the FEAST kitchen to improve their skills. Assessment will then follow in their own kitchen to ensure that the skills learnt in the FEAST kitchen have been put into practice. Significant emphasis will be placed on the final presentation of the food prepared in the FEAST kitchen, with service taking place on a modern ceramic hot plate in earthen dishes to enhance the presentation. This will give the caterers/cooks a good idea of the level that we strive to match in the coming years.
