About Us
The Blue School is a high performing 11-18 school and Science College and, more recently, a Training School, under the Specialist Schools programme. The school is partnered with a well established educational provider in Somerset, Community Skills and Learning, that has a long relationship with the school in delivering learning opportunities for its staff and community. The partnership offers opportunities to adults starting or re-entering employment in the area of north Somerset. Target customers include primary and secondary school staff engaged in catering delivery; early years’ establishments, family centres and lunchtime assistants who plan to enter the school food workforce. The Blue School and Community Skills and Learning will develop a centre of excellence for the region and locality that will be nationally recognised for the development of healthy eating provision in schools. The training kitchen will be unique as learners will be training in a real working school environment where almost 2000 meals are produced each day to set time scales and to exacting standards. A whole organisation approach in every local school to commit to developing pupils with healthy minds and healthy bodies is our vision – making healthy food choices the keystone in meeting this aim.
