About Us
St Helens College is a large further education College in the borough of St Helens, Merseyside in the Northwest of England and is a well established training provider. The College's mission statement is 'It's all about you', which expresses the organisation's commitment to being customer focused. The catering department within the College offers a wide and varied curriculum of catering and hospitality programmes including NVQ's, VRQs, leisure programmes, full cost and food safety programmes to a diverse age group ranging from chilldren accessing vocational programmes whilst still at school to adults who may accessing the curriculum to gain a recognised qualification, retraining for the food industry or just cooking for pleasure .The provision consists of full time, part time and workforce development courses that offer a flexible training package that enables students to access qualification routes throughout the academic year and at varying times throughout the day or evening including weekends. Well equipped with real kitchen working environments, a demonstration theatre and skill kitchens, students are encouraged to develop their culinary skills and techniques that incorporate the prepartion, cooking and finishing of food dishes that include the manufacture of meals with an emphasis on healthy food.
